2024 SJGA YTD in Review

Our second year continues to build momentum off of year one!!!

SJGA continues to see demand rise for junior golfer participation, providing the necessary link between First Tee and high school golf. Sixteen junior golfers were selected from a pool of applicants for our 2024 winter and summer programs. This summer we added 4 additional professional golf instructors, joining Golf Pro Daniel Limauro, Greg Cordeiro, Matt Fennessy, and Dennis Coffey for indoor and outdoor practice sessions. You can see their biographies on our “meet the coaches” page.

The winter season consisted of indoor strengthening, flexibility, and conditioning under the supervision of Ian Duffy at Granite Fitness and Performance in Dover, New Hampshire. Weekly sessions also included training in 2 hitting cages, utilizing golf simulators and monitors, as well as using putting mats. The gym was open daily for independent competition on the simulators. This year’s winner of the golf competition was Sam MacGregor. Sam won a new set of TaylorMade irons, generously donated by Pat Duffy. We will be posting information soon about our 2025 winter program.

For the summer program, the junior golfers returned for another year of outdoor practice and course play at The Oaks Golf Course, Pease Golf Course, and Sagamore Golf Course. The players appreciated the additional support from the increased numbers of professional golf instructors at each session. Most players participated in a minimum of five New Hampshire Golf Association Junior Tour events. The hard work put in by the junior golfers from the winter through the summer will pay off going into the high school season.

We wish we had more room for applicants and are hoping to add another tier of Winter and Summer Instruction in 2025.
